Richard Dasselaar is Chair of the AI in Cardiology & Costing Working Group at the International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth — an organisation in official relations with the World Health Organization — and serves as the Netherlands' National Lead for the WHO Global Digital Health Monitor. He is a global digital health strategist working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, digital twins, preventive health, digital health technology, digital transformation and strategy leadership, and value-based healthcare.


His work focuses on translating AI, agentic AI, and digital twins from strategy and design into implementation and scale — helping health systems navigate the full journey from insight to execution, and connecting what technology can do with what systems can actually adopt, deliver, and sustain, including in underserved populations.  He works across medical AI and its integration into global healthcare ecosystems, health policy, value-based healthcare, and equitable implementation. 


His career spans more than 12 years of senior leadership across MedTech, pharma, and digital health, including senior roles with Zimmer Biomet, Royal Philips, and Modern Group, with experience across Europe, the United States, India, Middle East, APAC and Africa. As Founder at GADH (Global Advisory Digital Healthcare), amongst others, he is developing a longitudinal AI-ECG research programme spanning three continents, assembling the clinical, technical, and research expertise needed to investigate earlier detection of heart failure.


Richard serves on Fortune's AI Advisory Board and is an annual invited guest to Fortune Brainstorm AI in San Francisco and the Forbes CIO Summit in New York. He has been named among the Global Top 30 AI Leaders to Follow, alongside Fei-Fei Li of Stanford University and Cassie Kozyrkov. His forthcoming article, "From Prediction to Prevention," will be the cover story for HealthManagement.org, exploring how earlier detection can shift cardiovascular care from reactive treatment to prevention at scale. He has completed executive education at Nyenrode, MIT, and Harvard Business School, and is a PhD researcher in Digital Health Strategy collaborating with key academics and stakeholders.


His dedication to earlier detection in HF is personal: after losing a parent to cardiovascular disease that was discovered too late, Richard has dedicated his work to making earlier, smarter detection a greater part of cardiovascular care — closing the gap between what AI can find and what health systems can act on in time.
